Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti gets International School Award accreditation (2015-18)
Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti bagged the prestigious International School Award (2015-18) instituted by British Council for providing its students international dimension and global exposure in education. It was a momentous occasion when the ISA coordinators, Mrs Mousumi Ganguly and Mrs Regina Basumatary received the coveted Award at a recently held award ceremony in Delhi hosted by British Council.
The ISA is a bench marking scheme that accredits schools as having an outstanding level of support for nurturing global citizenship in young minds and enriching teaching and learning.
As a part of ISA programme, the school initiated a plethora of activities as approved by British Council. Through careful planning all activities that we had chosen were linked with existing curriculum, the various activities done and the events observed at school, thus providing greater enrichment in learning.
Under ISA initiative our students collaborated with partner schools from different countries like Sri Lanka, Egypt, Nigeria and Germany and had executed exchange programmes on various subjects. The school witnessed a colourful bonanza of activities on themes like environment, music, dance, tea industry, wildlife conservation, festivals, the different tribes of people and few renowned personalities of the world.
ISA enabled the students to acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also a practical approach towards life. The links with overseas schools gave opportunity for exchange of ideas and facilitate in development of skills, thus forming a global society. It also brought about a great value addition in students preparing each of them to keep abreast with the rapidly changing world. We, the SBGJ family thank British Council for giving the students opportunity to explore their creativity and innovations to the fullest.
