Sankalp Club Visit to SOS Children's Village
The members of the Sankalp Club visited the SOS children's village in Guwahati on 7th November to celebrate Diwali. The SOS children's village was established in the aftemath of the ethnic violence of Assam in the year 1983 wherein a lot of people were killed and children became orphans. These homeless children are kept under the care of a lady called mother. While their formal education is taken care of , care is also taken to see that the talents of the children are also nurtured. We were informed that many children were able to showcase their talents in many state level competitions in the field of sports, art, literature etc. We distributed sweets, diyas, crackers and whatever we could contribute to make their Diwali morte colourful and exciting. This visit was not only enriching but also inspirational. We hope we can continue to support and be a part of these social services so as to help and participate in making this world a better place.
