Melange 2016
THE DAZZLING EXTRAVAGANZA.
The annual music program “Mélange†took place on the 27th of August in Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti. This grand show was divided into two halves with the morning show being from 10 am to 1pm and the afternoon show was from 2pm to 5pm with equal enjoyment in both of them. It started with the inaugural dance which was a fusion of Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi. It then went on to various performances such as a violin recital, Yoga performance, French dance, Percussion, Sanskrit Qawali, a senior group song and ended with the girls band. A welcome speech was given by the principle, Mrs. Vaishaly Sharma which stressed on the need to send the children out on various tours not only national but also international and also on how S.B.G.J. is striving on maintaining the perfect balance between curriculars and co- curricular activities.
The second half started with a bang with a mesmerizing yoga performance and the momentum continuing with fusion dances, a blended performance of Gymnastics and Taekwondo and went on to Skating, Mallari dance, a junior group song and then a Semi classical fusion dance. One of the main highlights of the show was also performed in this half which was the French song where the students performed the French version of the famous song “Cheap Thrills by Siaâ€. In the end there were the two incredible orchestras, one Indian, one Western which really was the perfect end to the perfect show.
In the middle. There were a few performances which were called “fillers†but, were definitely not less than the main performances if not better. We had an incredible solo Odissi Dance, a group singing , a maestro guitarist and an A-grade pianist playing some of the most beautiful pieces ever. This enthralling mood continued into the second half with a girls band, a group of students executing two very famous songs of our generation written by the Script, two melodious performances by the students of class 4. Next was two of our very own GoalpariaLokgeet folk songs sung to perfection and finally ended with a stellar English song sung by a young girl. All in all, it was a grand success. With the anchors promising the parents of another music fest in the coming academic year, the show finally came to an end.
