Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Guwahati, in collaboration with the British Council, Kolkata, conducted a Reading Challenge for the primary and middle school students. British Council has done similar reading challenges in numerous other schools.
The students were divided into two groups - Primary and Middle; they had to read at least six books in six weeks, and write reviews on them. They also attended Listening, Speaking and Writing workshops by the British Council. The books, catering to the interest and understanding of the students, had been chosen and sent by British Council.
The reviews were then graded by British Council. Of the 96 participants from our school, 90 have completed the challenge and have been awarded certificates. A whopping 41 of them (nearly 50%) have additionally been awarded medals for their reviews being graded A or A+.
We are very proud of our students as they have proved themselves on such a prestigious platform. Heartiest congratulations to them! We look forward to more participation in the upcoming session.
